Colombia is currently home to 1958 bird species (80 are endemic), and comprises approximately 20% of all bird diversity worldwide. In addition, it boasts the greatest diversity of hummingbirds with 165 species of the 355 found on the entire American continent. As such, Colombia is becoming a popular destination for birdwatchers. We are excited to share with you a gallery and a comprehensive list of tanager species and others. The Beautiful Collared Trogon male has a yellow bill and an orange ocular ring. The female has orange ocular rings as well but the female has them surrounded by two incomplete white bands.

A colorful large bird that has a heavy bill and long tails with a distinctive racquet-like tip and known to nest in tunnels in river ban. Solitary or in pairs.Feed on fruit and insects on ground.

A frugivorous colorful bird only found in the humid forests of western Colombia. No sexual dimorphism as both sexes are very similar. Frugivorous and also preys on insects and pierce flowers for nectar.

This large bird has a distinctive disk-like crest and brilliant orange plumage. The female has a darker and browner plumage. They produce squawking and grunting calls sometimes similar to the sound of a pig.

A conspicuous and spectacularly colored bird with a brilliant red head and breast that are not seen in the female. Found in pairs and feeds on insects and fruits. Nests from holes in decaying trees

This medium-sized hummingbird has a slightly decurved black bill. The male has a glittering metallic green throat and belly. The female builds its nests, lays two eggs and incubate them.

Euphonias are known for their constant singing and excellence in tone. The Euphonia gut is physiologically adapted to digest small mistletoe berries from parasitic plants of the family Loranthaceae.
