The cotingidae family includes 34 species of birds considered important seed dispersers. Inhabit in humid forests. They do not associate with other flocks. Only feed on fruit and perch on fruiting trees. Some found at altitudes less than 4,000 m (12,000 ft). They all have broad bills with hooked tips, rounded wings, and strong legs. Biparental care for their chicken.
Se encuentran 34 especies de cotingas. Son importantes por la diseminación de semillas de frutas. Se encuentran en los bosques húmedos. Solitarios y no se asocian con otros pájaros. Se alimentan exclusivamente de fruta y viven la mayor parte del tiempo en el tope de árboles frutales. También viven a alturas hasta los 4000 m. De picos anchos con puntas curvas, alas redondas y patas gruesas. Tanto el macho como la hembra cuidan de sus crías.
