Some species are spread all over the world except in Antarctica. Powerful raptors. Often in solitary pairs. Fast and spectacular flyers with an average speed between 40-50 km/h (69 mph) when pursuing a prey. The Peregrine falcon is one of the most widespread species. Chase prey close to the ground and do not often dive from great hights (stooping) on the prey. The peregrine falcon may reach speeds of 320 km/h (200 mph) when stooping. Breeding coincides with that of the emergence of squirrels. Sexes are very similar. Feeds on small animals, birds, and squirrels. Can live up to 20 years.
