The Snail Kite is also molluscivore

Rostrhamus sociabilis

The Snail Kite adults always have pale yellow eyes and an all-dark tail. The unusually shaped bill is an adaption for feeding on aquatic snails, crabs, and other invertebrates. It likes to feed on ‘apple’ snails of the genus Pomacea. The adult kite is uniformly light gray. The base of the bill and legs are yellow. The juvenile is also gray with pale barring on the underparts and rusty fringes on the upperpart feathers. The juvenile shows a white middle tail band in the tail. It is found near water in forested parts of tropical America. It is generally solitary or in small groups. It favors more wooded and narrow lakes or bodies of water where it perches. Clutch size is 1-4 eggs, often 2 in one brood. Both male and female incubate the eggs for about 30 days. The young are quiet in the nest and fledge after 35 days but can leave the nest after 40 days. It flies rather low and in groups.
