El Guaco común caza día y noche

Nycticorax nycticorax

Nycticorax means "night raven" from the Greek nuktos night and korax, raven. Found in fresh and salty water areas in most of the world. During the night or early in the morning, it stands still to wait for prey to ambush by extending its neck, and rapidly pushing its short bill into the water. It feeds on fish, crustaceans, frogs, aquatic insects, frogs, and small birds. It has a black crown and back with the remainder of the body is white, red eyes, and short yellow legs. With pale gray wings and white underparts. Two or three long white feathers arise from its neck. The sexes are similar in appearance and males are somewhat larger. Black-crowned night herons do not resemble the typical body shape of the heron family. They are relatively stocky with shorter bills, legs, and necks than their relatives, the egrets and diurnal herons. Its resting posture resembles a penguin. The night-heron measures 64 cm (25 in) long and weighs 800 g (28 oz). It lays from 3 to 8 eggs. They usually rest on trees during the day.
