Amazilia franciae

Males show a bluish-purple crown and the female a green crown. Belly and and undertail coverts are white. The tail is notched. The bill is almost straight with a black culmen and a red mandible. It is mostly solitary but mixes with others when feeding. Feeds on nectar of flowering trees. Inhabits wet forest edges, woodlands and scrubs. Common at elevations from 1000 to 2000 m. Found in the three ranges of Colombia.

Los machos presentan una coloracion azul-violeta en su corona mientras que la hembra lo tiene solo verde. Este colibrí de tierras altas se encuentra en las tres cordilleras y es el único que presenta coloración totalmente blanca en sus partes inferiores. Las hembras lo tienen blanco pero punteado. Su rabadilla es un color cobrizo. Se lo encuentra solitario y gregario cuando se alimenta junto con otros colibríes. Habita en zonas boscosas y se alimenta de néctar e insectos.
