Blue-gray tanager
Azulejo común

Thraupis episcopus

The Blue-gray Tanager is one of the most widespread, and ubiquitous, birds of the humid forests at elevations less than 2600 m. It is also found in parks and gardens and not found in interior of closed canopy forest, but they can quickly colonize fresh clearings. It is predominately light bluish gray, with brighter blue margins to the wings and tail. The wing coverts are bright blue. If feeds on insects and fruit such as bananas, papaya and ripe green bananas and others. It is seen foraging in pair or joining small groups of same or different species. Similar to the palm tanager but of different color.
