Some of the 36 species are vagrants to the north and others are found elsewhere in the country. Mobile. Found in freshwater marshes, lagoons, lakes, rice plantations, and often in ocean coasts. Many with long bills that allow them to feed on insects, forage, seed from soft mud.
Algunas de las 36 especies son visitantes en el norte del país pero la mayoría se encuentran en el resto del país. Aves móviles que se encuentran en lagos, cultivos de arroz y a menudo en las costas marinas. Poseen picos largos que les permiten cazar insectos, animales y semillas del suelo húmedo o barro.
