Alondra cornuda Vuela en grandes bandadas

ORDER: passeriformes

FAMILY: ALAUDIDAE

The Horned Lark is a small songbird that has a neat yellow face, black mask, and tiny black ‘horns’ with some brown shapes. Mostly found at higher altitudes up to 4000m (12,000 ft) and common in deserts, heavily grazed pastures, plowed fields and open grounds. Flocks in the hundreds. Glean most of their food (seed and worms) from the ground. Perch also to harvest seed from seed heads. When female is ready to mate, she performs a courting display that looks like she is taking a dust bath to attract the male. Female digs cavities on bare ground with her bill, kicks dirt out with her feet. She gets no help from the male. Nest is a basket woven made of fine plant material. Can lay 2-5 eggs of brownish olive color.
