The THRUSHES ARE great dispersers of seeds
las MIRLAS son grandes dispersadores de semillas

ORDER: PASSERIFORMES

FAMILY: TURDIDAE

Four species are visitors and 24 residents. Inhabit all thermic strata or altitudes. Seen also in parks, open fields, and frequent in humid forests. Small- to medium-sized birds. Feeds on ground. Many are brownish with spotting underneath, lacking brightness but exquisitely patterned. White eye-ring. They make up their lack of color with their beautiful flute-like songs. Song varies according to populations and species. Feed on insects and love fruit and seed. Turdidae species spread the seeds of plants, contributing to the dispersal of many species and the recovery of ecosystems. Some males can care for young in multiple nests. Some live up to 15 years.
