Toucans, Toucanets, Araçari | TucÁns, Tucancitos, PichÍS

Colorful and large birds representative of tropical birds. Toucanets are smaller in size (30 cm). Thick and long beak. Feed on insects, wasps combs, and fruit. Eggs from other birds are eaten to obtain protein. Found in pairs or in groups. They use large cavities found in old trees for their nests. Females can lay up to 21 eggs. Noisy early in the morning and late afternoon.

Aves vistosas y grandes símbolo de las aves tropicales. Algunas especies son pequeñas (tucancitos de 30 cm). De pico grueso y largo que usan para alimentarse de insectos, colmenas de avispas, y frutas. Comen también huevos de otros pájaros para obtener proteína. En pares o en grupos. Hacen sus nidos en forma de caverna en troncos de ciertas especies de árboles. La hembra pone hasta 21 huevos en su nido. Ruidosos temprano en la mañana y en tarde.
