The Booted Racket-tail is a beautiful hummingbird. Males have a metallic green plumage, black wings, a short blackish bill, and a unique tail. The tail is long and green tipped with dark bluish rackets. The tail is longer than the bird itself. Females are white below with green speckles and a white-tipped tail lacking the characteristic rackets of males. Both sexes show puffy white leg feathers. This very small hummingbird that favors humid woodland edges in mid-elevations in the Andes. Smaller that Aglaiocercus that have the same tail pattern.
Un colibrí pequeño de cola larga que es realmente spectacular. Presenta un pico negro, corto y no curvo. Se le reconoce por su hermosa cola que termina en forma de raqueta. Su cola mide 8 cm. Su plumaje es generalment verde brilliante iridescente visible en el pecho y garganta. Las patas de ambos sexos presentan abundantes plumas blancas. La hembra tiene la cola larga ahorquillada pero carece de la raqueta típica de macho. Habita en zonas boscosas húmedas a elevaciones medias de los Andes. Más pequeños que los Aglaiocercus del mismo tipo de cola.
