Birds with attractive patterns that live on the shores but do not enter water to hunt for insects. Uncommon in open areas. Short stout bills. Distinctive walk-stop-pick foraging technique.

Aves con bellos diseños de plumas. Viven en las playas pero no entran al agua a cazar animales pequeños. De pico corto. Caminan, paran y pican sus presas de forma característica.
