Appearance: Plushcaps are small birds with a distinctive appearance. They have a black head with a bright yellow crown, a white throat, and a bright yellow breast. Their back is olive-green and they have a black tail.
Habitat: Plushcaps are found in cloud forests and montane forests at elevations between 1800 to 3500 m. They prefer dense vegetation and are often found in areas with bamboo thickets.
Behavior: Plushcaps are known for their shy and secretive behavior. They are often difficult to spot due to their preference for dense vegetation. They are insectivorous, feeding on insects and other small invertebrates.
Breeding: Plushcaps build cup-shaped nests out of moss and plant fibers placed in dense vegetation. They lay 2-3 eggs per clutch and both parents take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks.
